Neillsville Area (25 May 1972)

Arne Schwellenbach and son, Tom, of Eau Claire called recently on his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Schwellenbach. Weekend visitors at the William Schwellenbach home were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Clark of Beloit. The Clarks also spent some time at the cottage.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Houdek of Westchester, Il, spent a week with her sister, Mrs. Anna Hudec.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Martin of Corvallis, Or, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lautenbach and Mr. and Mrs. Art Opelt were recent Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Opelt. Other guests of the Carl Opelts during the afternoon and evening were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Opelt, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Opelt and daughter, Susie, and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Opelt and family of Granton.

Mr. and Mrs. Rau Burr spent a day recently in Cooks Valley at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Yakesh, and attended the first communion of their grandson, Gary Yakesh, at St. John’s Catholic Church there.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kutsche spent a Saturday afternoon and were supper guests at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meske, in Marshfield.

Recent Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Elmer Anderson at Bali Hai supper club were her children and their families, Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson and daughter, Donna, of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson and son, Ronnie of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson and children, Lee Ann and Loren, of La Crosse, and Mrs. Charles Anderson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Habel of Platteville.

Mrs. Earl Zille has returned from Racine after a 10-day visit with her sister, Mrs. Charles (Ruby) Richardson, who underwent major surgery May 5. Mrs. Douyette of Minocqua also visited four days there.

Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zille attended the Nasonville Grace Lutheran Church for the baptism of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Krause’s baby, Duwayne, who was born April 2. Mrs. Krause is a grandniece of Mrs. Zille.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Quast spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beyer at Stoughton. While there they all attended the Johnny Cash show at the Coliseum at Madison on Friday evening, and also attended the Norwegian Festival and parade at Stoughton on Sunday. They returned home Monday evening.

Susan Galetka, who is studying to be a medical secretary at a La Crose school returned home, for the summer. She will be employed in Neillsville for the during the vacation months.

Graduating Neillsville high school seniors honored at a baccalaureate service Sunday at Calvary Lutheran Church were Cindy John, Bernie Jordahl, Jay Larsen, William Mech, George Ouimette and Daniel Tesmer. A coffee fellowship followed the service.
