Anderson, Dorothy J. (Knoll) (19 DEC 1924 - 10 MAY 2014)

Dorothy J. Anderson 89, Medford, died while surrounded by her family and under hospice care, on Saturday, May 10 at Country Gardens Assisted Living in Medford, where she had resided the past four years.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating. Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II in Medford.

Active pallbearers were her grandsons, Josh Mauritz, Ben Seidl, and Travis, Peter, Jason, Jake and Nick Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Jonilee Gunn, Jill Anderson, Rachel Zacho, Kelly Sandusky, Candy Brunner, Michael Ferrante and Andrew and Jeffrey Seidl.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Dorothy Knoll was born on December 19, 1924 in Stetsonville, to the late John W. and Nellie M. (Shepherd) Knoll. She attended Medford High School.

On August 3, 1944 in Hurley, she married Russel V. Anderson, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1988. They owned and operated Russ and Dort's Bar north of Medford for five years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Medford Co-op for many years until her retirement. During retirement she volunteered at the Medford hospital.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid and We Whittlesey Whizzers. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, traveling, cooking and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include five children, Robert "Bob" (Julaine) Anderson of Whittlesey, Richard "Rick" (Jeannie) Anderson and Judy Mauritz, both of Marshfield, Jackie Ferrante of Wayne, N.J., and Penny Seidl of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Delbert "Sonny" (Darlene) Knoll of Mosinee; three sisters, Shirley Langteau and Evelyn (Evie) Courchaine, both of Abbotsford, and Lovalice "Alice" Tischendorf of Medford; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Knoll in childhood.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a later date.
