Whitehouse, Maria L. (1819? - 27 DEC 1895)

Died, at the residence of her son, George, at Bessemer, Mich., Friday, Dec. 27th, 1895, Mrs. Maria Louise Whitehouse, in the 76th year of her age.

Mrs. Whitehouse was born in Canandaigua, N.Y., was married in 1840, came with her husband to Wisconsin the same year, and her home has been at different points in the state the most of the time since. Some few years ago she went with her son George and daughter Mary to Bessemer, Mich. She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, George of Bessemer, Clarence of Manistee, and four daughters, Mrs. D. R. Freeman of this city, Mrs. Dora Nichols of Manistee, Miss Mary of Bessemer, Mrs. Edith Gunn of Manistee, and a number of grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The remains were brought to this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday evening, and the funeral held at the M. E. Church Sunday, Rev. C. H. Chase officiating. The interment was in Colby Cemetery where the body was laid by the side of two daughters, Mrs. D. S. Bullock and Mrs. Cyrus Hutchinson, who preceded her to the other shore several years ago.
