Allbaugh, Glen E. (8 Sept. 1908 - 26 Aug. 1996)

Glen E. Allbaugh, 87, Platteville, died Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in Parkview Terrace Nursing Home in Platteville.

He was born Sept. 8, 1908, in Bloom City, the son of Clement and Rena (James) Allbaugh. A graduate of Ithaca High School, UW-Whitewater, and UW-Madison, he was a public school teacher in Wisconsin for 41 years, primarily as a band director, social studies teacher and guidance counselor.

In 1934, Allbaugh married the former Frances Murphy of Hazel Green.

He was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church, The Platteville Retired Teachers Association, the Platteville Kiwanis Club, and Melody Lodge no. 2 of Platteville. Allbaugh had also served on the Platteville Public Library Board.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; a daughter, Constance (Stephen) Stephens of Platteville; a son Stuart (Bonnie) Allbaugh of McFarland; two granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Platteville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sarah Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville.

Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bendorf Funeral Home in Platteville. Memorials may be made to the Platteville Public Library.
