Adrians, Lena (15 SEP 1896)

Married, at St. Kilian’s Church in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Tuesday, Sept. 15th, 1896, Mr. Henry Eder and Miss Lena Adrians, both of this city, Rev. Adolph Miller officiating.

It was a very pretty wedding that united the above couple. The church was handsomely decorated with choice flowers and shrubs At a few minutes past nine o’clock Miss Cora Bryant struck up a wedding march and the wedding party marched down the aisle of the church; the bride on the arm of her step-father, R. Shortell, the groom accompanied by the bride’s mother, , and the attendants, Messrs, Frank Finstahl, Michael Eder Jr. and John J. Grimes, and Misses Hannah Kegle, Callie Shafer and Etta Young. The bridal party was preceded by little Lillian Wolf, as maid of honor, carrying a handsome bouquet of white roses and carnations. The impressive marriage ceremony of the Catholic Church was performed and the twain pronounced one by Rev. Father Miller, who at the close of the ceremony, gave the young couple some excellent advice.

After the ceremony the party returned to the Shortell residence where a wedding breakfast was partaken of with a relish. Congratulations followed and the happy couple held an informal reception until train time, when they were escorted to the depot by their zealous friends, who appeared anxious to have everyone understand that this young couple was just married, not even forgetting to decorate their trunk with ribbons and old foot gear of whatsoever kind they could get their hands on. When the train moved off it did so under a shower of rice and slippers, accompanied by music fro the Colby Band, of which Henry has long been a member.

It is the intention of the happy pair to cross the lake and spend a day or two at Grand haven, Mich., then go down the lake to Green Bay, where they will visit friends. They will also visit Kaukauna and Appleton and expect to return home in a couple of weeks.

The above couple are number among our best young people. Misses Lena having lived here from childhood and by her quiet unassuming ways has drawn about her a large circle of sincere friends. Henry, everybody knows and likes, he has been engaged in the store of A. H. Booth & Co. for a number of years and by his uniform courtesy to all has made friends of all.

The Phonograph joins the hosts of other friends in wishing the happy couple a long life of unalloyed happiness and utmost prosperity.
