Wendt, Frederick A. (31 May 1915 - 26 June 1981)

A resident of Neillsville for the past 25 years, Frederick A Wendt passed away on Friday afternoon, June 26, 1981, in Neillsville Memorial Home.

Wendt, who made his home at 612 Center Street, was 66 at the time of his death. He was born to Frederick E and Minnie R (Raether) Wendt in Alma Center on May 31, 1915. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to the Neillsville area where he received his education.

Wendt farmed in the town of Weston, for several years. It was during this time that he married June R Fradette on October 1, 1933, in Neillsville ceremonies.

The Wendts then moved to Neillsville about 25 years ago. He worked for Plautz Brothers for several years and then was employed by Nelson Muffler until ill health forced his retirement. About four months ago, he became a resident of Neillsville Memorial Home.

Surviving is his wife June; two sons, Clair of Marshfield and Larry of Stoughton; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Teriann) Kurasz of Morrison, IL, and Mrs. Frederick (Kathleen) Dux of Neillsville; two sisters, Mary Stuhlman of Weyauwega and Eva Wendt of Neillsville; thirteen grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Eugene; one granddaughter; and three brothers, Alton, Alvin, and Melvin.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, June 30, from the Neillsville United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Serving as pallbearers were Lawrence Kyle, Russell Seelow, Alfred Boon, Clarence Miller, Jake Fitzmaurice and Calvin Mills. Special music for the service included "Beyond the Sunset" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus," offered by Deon Spangler and Lori Ann Langreck.

Attending the services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kurasz and family, Morrison, IL; Larry Wendt and family, Stoughton; Naomi Fradette, Eau Claire; Carol Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rusch, Mr. and Mrs. Duwayne Welch, David Berlik and Martha Miehack, all of Marshfield; Mary Stuhlman, Weyauwega; Diane Graveen and sons, Wausau; and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Harcey, Stillwater MN; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fradette and family, Prior Lake, MN; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and daughters, Minneapolis, MN; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hribar and family, Oconomowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Neville and son, Middleton; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hurlburt, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Michels, Alma C enter; Mr. and Mrs. Albin Person, Osseo; Neland Will and daughter, Colby; MR. and Mrs. Verland Berrett, Betty Lenz, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Boon, all of Greenwood; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Canfield and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Johnson, all of Granton.
