Wendt, Luella A. (20 Jan. 1907- 24 Dec. 1996)

Luella A Wendt, age 89, formerly of Neillsville, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 1996 at 10:05 a.m. at the Beverly Terrace Nursing Home in Watertown, WI.

Services were held on Saturday, December 28, 1996 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Neillsville, Wis. Rev. John Brouwer officiated and Florence Brouwer served as organist. Visitation was held on Friday, December 27, 1996 from 5-8 p.m. and again at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services. Burial followed at the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Luella was born on January 20, 1907 in Loyal, WI, to William Berrett and Myrtia Cook. She attended grade school in the town of Beaver, Greenwood High School and also the Wausau Business College. She worked in Minoqua for one year and then returned to Neillsville in 1926. She married Alvin Wendt on November 26, 1939 in Neillsville, Wis. She worked at the Clark County Courthouse for the superintendent of schools and also the nurses’ office. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the town of Levis until 1958, when they moved into the city of Neillsville, Wis. She again worked in the courthouse until her retirement. She enjoyed attending many church functions, gardening, crocheting and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of United Methodist Church and its women’s group. Luella will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving is one son, Melvin Wendt of Eau Claire; one foster son, John (Diane) Wildish of Greenwood; two daughters; Janice (Ronald) Hribar of Oconomowoc, WI and Edris (Frank) Hrasky of Waukesha, WI; one brother, Roland (Ethel) Berrett of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one brother, Verland Berrett; two sisters, Ione Brandt and Genevieve Voie; and one daughter-in-law, Lori Wendt.
