Mandel, Barbara (27 July 1881 - 16 March 1953)

Loyal - Mrs. Barbara Mandel, 71, Loyal, died Monday morning in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chippewa Falls. She had been visiting with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mandel, Boyd, when, on Feb. 28, she broke her leg. Since that time she had been a patient at the hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Myre Funeral Home by Jehovah’s Witnesses from Appleton. Burial will be made in the Beaver cemetery.

The body will repose at the funeral home from this evening to the time of services.

Mrs. Mandel, the former Barbara Brecker, was born July 27, 1881, in Switzerland. She came to this country with her parents at the age of 5, settling in Vesper.

Her marriage to David Mandel took place Nov. 4, 1900, at Unity. They operated a cheese factory in the Town of Beaver after their marriage. After her husband’s death, Mrs. Mandel continued to run the factory until 1929. She spent her later years making her home with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mandel, near Loyal.

Survivors include three sons, Alfred, Loyal, Leo, Boyd, and Arnold, Princeton, Ill.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Frank, Loyal, and Adolph, Owen; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Klessig Stanley, and Mrs. Henry Arne, Owen, Wis.

Two sisters also preceded her in death.

MANDEL SERVICES

Loyal - Speaker F. W. Petren, Appleton, of the Pastoral Bible Institute of Brooklyn, N. Y., will conduct funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Mandel, 71, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Myre Funeral Home. Burial will be made in the Beaver Cemetery.

Loyal - Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Mandel, who died Monday, March 16, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Myre Funeral Home. F. W. Petran, Appleton, who is from the Pastoral Bible Institute of New York, was the speaker. Burial was made in the Beaver Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Alfred and Arnold Molle, Albert Laabs, Albert and Harry Mandel, and Walter Alexander.

Nancy Hohl and Carl Drew, Greenwood, sang "My God and I" and "I’m a Pilgrim." Charles Ivery was the accompanist at the organ.
