Bushnell, Harry C. (13 Sept. 1873 - 1958)

Harry C. Bushnell, retired resident of the City of Owen, succumbed to complications of old age Sunday evening. He passed away at the Havenet Home, Owen, where he had been a resident since the 20th of November.

Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday Dec. 3, from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Claybaugh, pastor of the Congregational Church, Owen, officiating. During the service vocal numbers were rendered by Mrs. Donald Marshall, Thorp, with Mrs. R. W. Weaver, Owen, serving as accompanist at the organ. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Ed Rusch, John Rhoor, August Price, Herman Hardrath, Fred Raeck and Jens Andersen.

Harry C. Bushnell was born Sept. 13, 1873, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, being the eldest of nine children born to the late Cnetis C. and Lucrita Nusz Bushnell. On Nov. 10, 1897, he was united in marriage to Ida May Baumgartner in a ceremony performed at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Mrs. Sailor (Gladys) Phelps of Lisbon, Iowa, and a son Merle, Of Owen, Wis.

As a youth he had entered the business of raising fruit and also was associated with his father as a carpenter in the vicinity of Cedar Rapids. Later he farmed for four years near Lisbon, Iowa, prior to moving to Wisconsin in 1920, settling on a farm in the vicinity of Loyal. The retired from farming in 1942 when they moved to Owen where they have since made their home.

On November 10th of this year Mr. and Mrs. Bushnell celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary quietly at their home.

He suffered a mild stroke on Sept. 18 and two days later was moved from his home to the Havenet Nursing Home for resident care.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ida; two children, Gladys and Merle; a brother, Tom, of Costa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Edith of Tipton, Iowa; and Pauline of Eugene, Org.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Owen - The Rev. Ralph Claybough, pastor of the Congregational Church, conducted services at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon for Harry C. Bushnell, 85, Owen, who died Nov. 30 at the Havenet Nursing Home here, where he had been a patient for 10 days.

Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
