Verhalen, Myra (15 JUN 1935)

Miss Myra Verhalen of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Verhalen of Loyal and Mr. Milton Weber son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weber of Waukesha were united in marriage at 8:00 A. M. June 15 in Milwaukee at St. Francis Church with the Rev. Thomas Gilg officiating. Lohengrin’s wedding march and other selections were played during the ceremony. There was also beautiful singing by the vested choir, the organ music being continuous throughout the ceremony.

The bride was attended by Mrs. H. Schelvan of Milwaukee, sister of the bride and the groom was attended by Elden Verhalen, also of Milwaukee, brother of the bride. The groom and the best man going around the side isle, the matron of honor followed by the bride and her father went up the center isle meeting the groom and best man at the foot of the altar, where the bride was given to the groom. Being united at the altar with double wedding rings.

The bride wore a long white satin dress with a short train, and a beautiful trailing veil, carrying a bouquet of calla lilies with ferns. The matron of honor was attired in a toe length yellow georgette dress with white embroidery, carrying a large bouquet of tea roses and ferns. The groom and the best man wore white trousers, white shoes, dark coats, and black and white ties.

After many congratulations and a shower of rice, a wedding breakfast was served to the immediate family at the Hotel Republican, Milwaukee, receiving a silver spoon and congratulations from the manager of the Hotel.

Mr. and Mrs. Weber spent a few days at the home of the bride’s parents at Spokeville, leaving for Waukesha yesterday, where the groom owns a music store. The newlyweds are at home to their friends at 912 Clinton St. Waukesha.

Editor’s note: Mr. Weber is well known in Loyal, also in this section of the state, having appeared in person several times with the Frisco Frolics. Mr. Weber was pianist and accordionist. For 3 years (1931-1934) he was connected with radio station WLS, Chicago on the National Barn Dance Program, being the featured accordionist with Rube Tronson’s Texas Cowboys. Undoubtedly many of our local radio listeners have frequently heard Mr. Weber over the air. Mr. Weber stated that many requests for accordion selections came from this locality while he was with WLS.
