Sollberger, John Sr. (2 July 1859 - 1935)

[First part of this is cut off.] - Funeral home by Rev. W. Motzkus.

Mr. Sollberger was born at Berne, Switerland, July 2, 1859, and came to Clark County 38 years ago. His first occupation was that of cheesemaker and later he engaged in farming at which he was very successful.

On March 16, 1883, he was married to Elizabeth Dubi and to this union were born the following children: Elizabeth, Mrs. Orley Beck, Merrill; John Jr., Neillsville; Frieda, Mrs. Frank Baumel, Berwyn, Ill.; Bertha, Mrs. Leslie Sherman; Merrillan; Albert, Neillsville; William, Columbia and Ernest, Park Falls. He is also survived by several grandchildren and relatives in Switzerland.

Mr. Sollberger, who was educated in Switzerland, was a man of the highest type, beloved by his neighbors and fellow townsmen as was shown by the fact that they saw fit to elect him their supervisor for 28 consecutive years. His farm was a beautifully kept and stood as a symbol of his own fine character. In leisure Mr. Sollberger indulged in hunting, his favorite recreation.

Pallbearers were William Ambelang, Arthur Schultz, Frank Hnetkovsky, James Sindelar, Jos. Poertner and John Gahl.

Out of town relatives who were here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baumel, Berwyn, Ill.; Mrs. Orley Beck, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Sherman, Merrillan; Ernest Sollberger, Park Falls.
