Heimes, Mary A. (7 MAY 1840 - 13 MAR 1909)

Died, at her home in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), on Saturday afternoon, March 13th, 1909, of paralysis, Mrs. Mary A. Heimes, in the 69th year of her age.

Mary Anna Severin was born in Andorf, West Phalia, Germany, May 7th, 1840; at the age of 17 she came to this country, settling at Phoenix, Mich., where, on Sept. 24th, 1863, she was united in marriage to George Heimes. In 1877 the family moved here and located on a farm in the town of Colby, Clark Co. Mr. Heimes died about ten years ago, but she continued to reside on the farm with her son Adam, until five years ago, when she sold the place and moved into the city. She leaves six children, Mrs. Herman Hoffmann of the town of Unity, Caspar Heimes of Catawba, Mrs. Katie Sifkes of Ashtown, Ark., Adam Heimes of valley City, N.D., Mrs. W.F. Bondow and Mrs. Oliver Nelson, of this city, all of whom were her to attend the funeral except Mrs. Sifkes, besides other relatives and friends to mourn her death.

Mrs. Heimes had been enjoying fairly good health until February, when she received a stroke of paralysis and had been confined to her bed most of the time, but seemed to be gaining strength when, without warning, she received a second stroke, on Friday morning at two o’clock, and Saturday afternoon passed from this life.

The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wednesday morning, Rev. J.M. Schramm officiating.
