Mrs. Irvin Mengel passed away at Marshfield Hospital, Aug. 31, 1935 at 4 o’clock, her death being the result of pneumonia and other complications.

Mrs. Mengel, whose maiden name was Jessie Castner, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Castner. She was born at Loyal, Wisconsin, Aug. 12th, 1897. Her school years were spent in the Mack and Lyon Schools, with two years at the Loyal High School.

She was married to Ervin Mengel of Loyal, October 20 th, 1915. They immediately moved to Apex, Montana, where Irvin had previously homesteaded a quarter section of land. Here they made their home for three years; two children being born to them here. They returned to Loyal to take charge of his mother’s farm, where they lived the remainder of their married life.

Mrs. Mengel leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Irvin Mengel, and six living children, Ethel, Harry, Alveria, Lila, Robert and Yvonne; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Castner and eight brothers and sisters, Hazel, Forrest, Harry, John, Nina, Theodore, Royal and Grace, all of Loyal, except Forrest, who with his family, live in Antigo, Wis. Many other relatives and friends will feel the loss of this loved one. One brother, Russell, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mengel has been an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since her girlhood days, and attendance of church and Sunday School was among her greatest pleasures of life. She was a member of The W. C. T. U. and took and active part in temperance work. She was also a member of the R. N. A. of Loyal, Wis., and was an officer in the local camp at the time of her death.

She was a devoted wife and mother, friend and neighbor; always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

The funeral was held at the M. E. Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. Austin Chapman, officiating with the Royal Neighbor service being conducted at the church cemetery. Her four brothers, cousin Lawrence Kissinger, and brother-in-law Bert Mengel, were the pall bearers.

Mrs. Anna Mengel, Wibaux, Montana, aged mother of Irvin Mengel came all alone to attend the funeral.

The daughter who was born at the time of Mrs. Mengel’s death was buried with her mother.

The mother resting in peace seems to say to us,

Peace, which passes understanding

Joy the world can never give,

Now in Jesus I am finding,

His smiles of love I live.
