Marion Bell was born in Humbird, Mentor Twp., Clark Co., Wisconsin, to John Anton and Helena Margaret "Lena" (Judas) Bell. She attended schools in the Humbird area, graduating from the Humbird High School. She attended the Eau Claire State College in Wisconsin and the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Chicago and graduated from Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was appointed a Missionary of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in September, 1936. Marion Bell, R.N. reached the Scott-Threscher Memorial Hospital at Kakchieh, an island in Swatow Bay, South China in 1937 only a few months before the Japanese Invasion. She began work immediately, learning the language as she went along. She began to develop public health programs in nearby villages. As the war situation worsened, the hospital facilities were over taxed with war victims. However, the Baptist hospital remained open until forced to close.

Miss Bell was able to leave China for a regular furlough in 1941. It was 1946 before she was able to return. She filled the interval with special studies, earning her B.S. in degree at Columbia University in New York City.

In addition to this B.S. degree, she earned a Master's degree from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois.

Returning to China in 1946, Marion Bell went to Kityang to serve in the Bixby Memorial General Hospital. The number of patients continued to be unusual. Nevertheless, trained nurses treated patients, and delivered the gospel of Jesus Christ to willing ears. Marion returned to the United States from China in 1952.  September, 1953, she married Azure Osborne and served her active connections with the society. After that time she held several positions in the field of nursing education and became director of the School of Nursing at the Grant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. and Mrs. Osborne returned to Humbird in 1965, moving to the old home place northeast of Humbird. She and Azure were active members of the United Church of Christ in Humbird and were dedicated serving God.  She died December 6, 1983 at Humbird, Wisconsin and Azure passed away January 17, 1984.  They are both buried in the Mentor Township Cemetery, Clark County, Wisconsin.
