Koscielski, Felix W. (15 MAY 1871 - 22 APR 1935)

Felix Walter Koscielski died at the Wis. State Hospital at Madison on April 22nd, 1935 of anemia and chronic myocarditis, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Mr. Koscielski was born in Slupsia, Poland, on May 15, 1871. At the age of twenty-four he came to America, working in Chicago as a laborer and later starting in business, until ill health forced him from the city. He was married to Josephine Brieczuski in 1898. In the year 1910 he came to Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. with his family and located on a farm.

The family thrived for several years, when Mr. Koscielski was stricken with typhoid fever and was ill for eighteen months. He went back to Chicago, returning in 1914. In 1918 he purchased a larger farm four miles east of Thorp which was his residence until death. His wife preceded him in death eighteen years ago, leaving a baby six weeks of age. Although feeling sorely the loss of his helpmate and mother of his children, Mr. Koscielski fought his battles alone through the intervening years and with the help of near relatives raised his family of nine children to healthy manhood and womanhood. He succumbed to his last sickness of eleven months duration, at the age of sixty-three years.

He leaves to mourn his demise, one brother, Jacob, of Stevens Point, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Koronkowski, and Mrs. Anna Nowak, Chicago; two sons, Edward of Chicago, and Joseph of Thorp, and seven daughters, Mrs. Peter (Evelyn) Polnaszek, Mrs. Joe (Estelle) Panek, Ann and Helen Koscielski of Chicago, and Charlotte, Loretta and Harriet at home.

Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig’s Church Saturday morning, Rev. F.A. Kulig officiating. The body was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John and Louis Zukowski, Martin Przymicki, Mike Mocadlo, John Moszkiewicz and Peter Jenkot.
