Esther P. Bizjak, 92, town of Butler, rural Thorp, died on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Wausau Aspirus Hospital, Wausau. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 13, at Immanuel United Church, rural Greenwood. The Rev. Mark Schwinn officiated and burial followed in the Town of Butler.

Esther Permelia Mayenschein was born on Dec. 28, 1913, in Burr, to William and Blanche (nee Noyes) Mayenschein. In 1916, her family moved to the town of Butler, where they purchased a farm. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Butler School. She then worked for three years for Rev. Gerald Smith of the Withee Alliance Missionary Church. She married John Bizjak on Oct. 28, 1939, at the Methodist Church parsonage, Thorp. In 1940, they purchased her family’s farm, where they lived and raised their family. Her husband, John died on July 26, 1981. She continued to live on the farm until the time of her death. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ since 1950, was a member of the Butler Homemakers, and served on the town of Butler election board for many years. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, gardening, quilting, canning, and her cats.

She will sadly be missed by her son, Gerald (Kay) Bizjak, Wausau; three grandchildren, Gerald Jr. (Rachelle) Bizjak, Albert Lea, Minn., Christopher (Kimberly) Bizjak, Wausau, Timothy (Ahna) Bizjak, Brooklyn; five great-granddaughters; Raelin, Claire, Lauren, Madeline and Lindsey; and a sister, Lydia Pope, Park Ridge, Ill.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; two sisters, Lodean Culp and LaVerne Reineke; and one brother, Curtis Mayenschein.

Thorp Funeral Home, Thorp, assisted the family with arrangements.
