Hansohn, Henry (11 OCT 1835 - 28 AUG 1912)

Our citizens were shocked Wednesday afternoon when the sad news spread over the city that Henry Hansohn, one of our oldest settlers, had passed away at him home in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., one mile east of the city. He had been ailing only a few days, but was under the doctor’s care, and was supposed to be gaining his usual health. He died at 3:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Aug.28th, 1912, of heart failure, aged 76 years, 10 months and 17 days.

Henry Hansohn was born in Kloppenhein, Nassau Provinz, Germany, Oct. 11th, 1835; came to this country in 1851, locating in Sheboygan County. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Ernestine Pribnow in 1875, and the same year came to Colby, residing in the village until about 1884, when he moved onto the farm where he died. He had always been a strong, healthy and very industrious man, loved and honored by all who knew him.

He recently sold his farm and was preparing to move to Visalia, Calif., expecting to leave about the last of September. He is survived by his widow, a stepson, John Pribnow of this city, four sons, Henry and William of Colby, Edward of Visalia, Calif., August of Fresno, Calif., and two daughters, Mrs. Mel Tennant of Abbotsford, and Miss Ella, residing at home.

The Phonograph joins the friends, which comprises our entire community, in expressions of deepest sympathy to the widow and children.

The funeral services will be held at St. John’s German Ev. Church, Rev. J. Bizer officiating, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will take place in Colby Cemetery.
