Bourn, Phoebe (24 SEP 1825 - 22 SEP 1913)

Mrs. Phoebe Bourn died at the home of her brother, H.J. Blanchard, at 12:40 Monday afternoon, Sept. 22nd, 1913, aged 87 years, 11 months and 28 days.

Phoebe Blanchard was born at Mansonville, Province of Quebec, Canada, Sept. 14th, 1825. She was married to Elnathan Bourn, Sept. 24th, 1840, and in 1842, with her husband, moved to Colton, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y. In 1857 they came to Wisconsin, locating at Hancock. In 1872 they came to what is now the city of Colby, Clark Co., Wis., Mr. Bourn being in charge of a grading crew for the Colby & Phillips Construction Co., who were building the Wisconsin Central Railroad, and made this their home until 1876, when they returned to Hancock, where they continued to reside until the year 1898, when they returned to Colby to reside. Mr. Bourn died Nov. 29th, 1900.

The past five years she has resided at the home of her brother, during which time, she was in feeble health owing to her advanced age. She leaves to mourn her death four brothers, J.D. and J.W. of Mansonville, Canada, C.J. of Oklahoma City, Okla., and H.J. of this city, besides other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Braddick officiating, and the remains laid at rest in Colby Cemetery, beside those of her husband.
