Wilde, Roy O. (17 DEC 1914 - 26 JAN 1974)

COLBY, Clark Co., Wis. - A former Colby resident, Roy O. Wilde, 59, of Birchwood, died at 7:25 p.m., Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield following a two month illness.

The body will lie in state beginning this evening (Monday) at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.

The body will then be taken to the Rockman-Peterson Funeral Home in Cameron where the Rev. Donald Berry of Rice Lake will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Sumner Cemetery in Cameron.

Mr. Wilde was born Dec. 17, 1914 in Colby, where he was educated and worked as a young man with his father and brother as a painter in this area.

Following his marriage to the former Myrtle Lowell on Nov. 7, 1946, at Pine City, Minn., he lived in Cameron for a short time and then moved to Birchwood. She survives him.

He was a member of the Washburn County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years and a game warden in that area. A member of the Birchwood Village Board, member and past president of the Colby V.F.W. Memorial Post. He had been active in civic affairs and had served in World War II, receing the Purple Heart, among other distinctions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, William Wilde Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., and a sister, Mrs. John (Gladys) Fecker, Abbotsford, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Wilde, a brother and four sisters.
