Jahr, Emil (27 Jan. 1852 - 17 Jan. 1937)
Emil Jahr, one of the older pioneers of this community, passed away at his home in this city Sunday night, Jan. 17, having nearly reached the age of 85 years.
Mr. Jahr had been ill about two weeks, and during that time he suffered greatly, but bore the pain and distress with wonderful patience.
Emil Jahr was born near Newberg, Washington County, Wisconsin, January 27, 1852. He grew to manhood there and on Jan. 8, 1880 was united in marriage to Lena Steuerwald in Sheboygan County. They came immediately to Clark County and settled on land in the town of Grant, developing there a fine farm, which was their home until nine years ago when they moved to Neillsville, Wis.
Mr. Jahr was very industrious, honest, upright man, an excellent farmer and has the respect of all who knew him. Early in life he became a member of the Methodist Church and has been an attendant upon the services of that church all his later life.
He is survived by his wife and four children; Marvin on the farm in Grant; Elsie, Mrs. Fred Raine, Neillsville; Myra, Mrs. Leroy Garret, who is living in Pennsylvania, and Walter who lives at home. He leaves also four grandchildren, one half brother, Frank Jahr; five half sisters, Mrs. Ben Loebe, Mrs. Herbert Cooley all of West Bend, Mrs. John Miller, Batavia and two half sisters in California.
Funeral services are held this, Wednesday, afternoon at Schiller’s Funeral Home, Rev. E. P. Stone officiating.
