Bania, Walter (14 Nov. 1912 - 3 March 2006)

Walter Bania, age 93, of N16511 Fernwall Ave., Stanley, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2006 at his home, with his family by his side and under the care of Hope Hospice, Rib Lake.

Walter was born Nov. 14, 1912 in Bridgeport, Ohio, the son of Paul and Antoinette Bania. As a young man he moved with his family to a farm in the Town of Thorp in 1930. On July 3, 1937 he was united in marriage to Anna Staron at St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Church, Junction, Town of Thorp. He and Anna took over the family farm and continued farming there all of their lives. During this time Walter also did electrical, plumbing and heating work.

Walter was an active and longtime member of the St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Emer-Quinn Council # 3240 and a 4th Degree Mother Seton Council # 1692 member. He had a very deep love for his family and always made time for everyone. At an earlier age he loved to fish and then later to travel and spend time visiting, reading and was known to like to tease. He will be fondly remembered by many and sadly missed by all.

He is survived by: one son, Frank (Dee) Bania of Osseo; one daughter, Genevieve (Dave) Seefeldt of Plymouth; three grandchildren, Frank Jr., Noel, and Dale Bania; two great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, sister-in-laws, Fran Staron, Laurie Osowski, Eugenia (Henry) Nyckel, and Edith Staron; brothers-in-law, Larry (Bonnie) Staron, Fred (June) Staron, and Adam (Theresa) Staron; many nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Skippy, his dog.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Anna on June 30, 1998; four brothers; and two sisters.

A Christian Burial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp, with Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Czestochowa Cemetery, Town of Thorp.

Friends and family may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary being recited by the 4th Degree Mother Seton Council # 1692.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to: Hope Hospice P.O. Box 237 Rib Lake, WI 54470.

Plombon Funeral Service, Stanley is assisting the family with arrangements.
