DeGrush, Louis (1831? - FEB 1914)

Louis DeGrush, aged 83, committed suicide Saturday evening by shooting himself in the head at the Ed ? place on North State St., It is though that his death occurred about 6 o’clock and his body was found about two hours later in the barn where he had his trunk and other personal effects stored. Mr. DeGrush has resided on the prairie for a number of years and for a long time made his home at the Mark Howe Home. He enjoyed a wide acquaintanceship and was well liked and respected by all who knew him. Despondency brought on by old age and failing health doubtless promoted the rash act which ended his life. The funeral was conducted Tuesday by Undertaker Hancock.

The above article was published in the Free Press of Grangerville, Idaho, early in Feb. 1914, but was just sent to us from Pasco, Wash., by Mrs. Henry Meritt, one of our former Colby, Clark Co., Wis. citizens. The deceased mentioned in the above article was our former citizen, Dan S. Bullock, who went West a number of years ago, assuming the name DeGrush after reaching the Idaho country. There are many of his old friends still living in this section who will be shocked to learn of his rash act.
