Kersten, Theodore (1842 - 14 SEP 1914)

Word reached this city Tuesday that Theodore Kersten had passed away at his home at Crivitz on Monday evening, Sept. 14th, after a prolonged illness at the age of seventy-two years. The body was brought to this city by relatives on Thursday morning, being met at the depot by a large number of relatives, old neighbors and friends, and escorted to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by his son, Rev. Fr Theodore Kersten of Meeme, assisted by Rev. Fr. L.N. Thelen as deacon, Rev. Fr. Geo. A Clifford as sub-deacon and Rev. Fr. John Rollinger of Wausau as master of ceremonies. The remains were then taken to St. Mary’s Cemetery, where they were laid at rest in the family lot, the members of the Catholic Knights and St. Joseph’s Society, of which the deceased was a member for many years, acting as escort. (Chilton Times)

G.C. Kersten of this city, a nephew of the deceased, attended the funeral, returning home on Friday morning.
