Nitschke, Paul T. C. (10 July 1891 - 7 Dec. 1937)

Paul T. C. Nitschke, son of Ernest B. Nitschke, was born in Granton, July 10, 1891. He grew to manhood and received his education here. On April 16, 1905, he was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church of Granton and was a life-time member of this church.

On October 21, 1918, he answered the call to serve his country in the World War, serving in Battery B. T. M. Battalion, New Orleans, until December 17, 1918.

On June 6, 1923, he was united in marriage to Miss Estella Cresap of Granton. They went to housekeeping on his farm in Lynn Township. To this union two children were born, Marion Estella, Oct. 13, 1924 and Lorraine Lydia, July 20, 1927. Besides his wife and two daughters, Mr. Nitschke leaves to mourn his sad departure, his parents, a brother, Arnold, and three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Guenther, Mrs. Elsie Dux, and Lenora.

Mr. Nitschke was ill for many years with asthma and later contracted Hodgkins disease. He spent many months at different hospitals and as an invalid cared for by his loved ones. Although he suffered continually he never complained but put his whole trust in the Lord who called him home December 7th at the age of 46 years, four months and 27 days.

Mr. Nitschke will be greatly missed by his wife, daughters, and immediate relatives as well as his many friends, as Paul was always ready to lend a helping hand when and where needed.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 9th at one o’clock at the home and at 1:30 at the church with the Rev. J. G. Buth officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Lynn Cemetery. The American Legion sounded taps at the grave.

The flower girls were Bernice Wagner, Arlene Reidel, Luella Sheir, Virginia Dux, Charlotte Roder, Jeanne Roder.

Pallbearers were Martin Krause, Alvin Grossman, Otto Anding, Arthur Brseman, Walter Krause and Arthur Sheir.
