Creed, Edmund (3 FEB 1833 - 15 APR 1915)

(Unity Correspondent)

Another life of a Unity pioneer has been added to the list of those who have already passed to the great beyond. Last Thursday morning, as the hands of the clock pointed to the hour of 10:25, the soul of Edmund Creed, a respected pioneer citizen, left its house of clay for an abiding place in that world beyond.

Happy and cheerful, the man of whom we write, has every enjoyed good health and lived to a ripe old age to enjoy the blessings of a well spent life. As a husband and father, he had the love and respect of his family, and as a neighbor, the confidence and good will of all. Edmund Creed was an upright loyal citizen, honest in his every transaction and true to a friend. He will be missed from the walks of this life. He was born in Southwood, Baltonsborough, England, Feb. 3, 1833. When eighteen years old he came to America, shortly after locating at Stevens Point. In 1871, he located at what is now Unity, Wis., moving his family here the following year. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Charles and William of this village, and Homer D. of Colby, and five grandchildren, Nyole, Evetta and Lela Creed of this village, and Amy and Jack Creed of Colby, all being present at the funeral which was held at the M.E. Church, Sunday at 2 p.m., Rev. Braddick officiating. The funeral was in charge of the I.O.O.F. No. 287, of which he was a member for over forty years. The remains were taken to Plover for interment, accompanied by a delegation of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.

The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their sad bereavement.
