Turgeson, Mary A. (16 MAR 1862 - 20 JUN 1934)

Mrs. Mary Armita Turgeson was born in Richland county, Wisconsin, March 16, 1862, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Mitchell, in Platteville, Wis., June 20, 1934.

In her youth she sought and found Christ as her Savior. She was married to Rev. John Turgeson July 4, 1885 to which union were born four children. She was a loyal co-worker with her husband on the various recuits on which they labored. Her earnest prayers, the quiet strength of her personality, her words and testimony and entreaty were winning factors in garnering souls into the Kingdom.

When the official duties of the husband required his absence from the home much of the time, she courageously bore the burdens of the home cares largely alone.

She leaves to mourn a lonely husband, also two sons, William of Barron, Wis., and Dr. John F. Turgeson of Belmont, Wis., and the daughter Mrs. Edna May Mitchell previously mentioned. The son Vivian preceded her in death. Besides the immediate family there also remains a large circle of relatives.

She greatly appreciated the earnest prayers of many friends offered in her behalf during her last illness.

In the midst of sadness we all realize that a faithful mother in Israel has been promoted from active service of about fifty years to her eternal reward where they "rest from labors and their works do follow them" Rev, E. F. Aiken had charge of the funeral at the Fox Hollow church near Richland Center Sunday at 3 p.m. June 22, a brief service having been held at the Ernest Mitchell home in Platteville at an earlier hour by the local pastor, Rev. G. L. Pound. Interment was made in the Basswood cemetery.---Contributed.
