Crossen, Bernard (11 JUL 1866 - 1 JUL 1934)

Bernard Crossen, resident, resident of Sparta since 1929 died of complications after an illness of one year’s duration in his home, Sunday, July 1st, at 2 P. M.

He was born at Mokena, Ill., July 11, 1866. At the age of 2 years his parents Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Crossen, moved on a homestead in the Town of Little Falls, Monroe County, where he was reared to manhood.

He was married to Mary Pugh, of Melrose, Wis., and to this union five children were born: George of Keno, Oregon; Catherine, Mrs. G. V. Weyhmiller of Loyal, Wis., Edgar of Cochrane, Wis., John of Sparta, Wis., and Clifford of Chicago, Ill.

While living in Wisconsin, he followed the threshing and sawmill business. In 1907 he moved with his wife and three sons to Moline, Ill., where he worked as a signal corps for the Rock Island Railroad Company, until May 15, 1929 when he retired.

His wife preceded him in death five years ago. After her death he moved with his son John to Sparta, where he lived until his death.

He leaves besides his children, one broter, three sisters, nine grandchildren, and other relatives and friends who mourn his death.

He was a member of the Catholic Church and Holy Name Society. The remains under the funeral direction of W. F. Plummer were taken to his old home church at Shamrock, Wednesday morning and laid at rest by the side of his wife. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Father Peters, of Black River Falls.

Mr. Crossen will be remembered here , as he was a resident at one time of the Town of Loyal.
