Lyle, William J. (11 DEC 1868 - 4 AUG 1934)

William James Lyle was born at Fox Lake, Wis., December 11, 1868, and died at Loyal, Wis., Aug. 4th, 1934, aged 65 years, 7 months and 24 days.

On September 29, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Iva Meigs of Fox Lake. The couple made their home on the old homestead, near Fox Lake. Four children were born to this union: Esther, Elsie, Norma and a boy who died in infancy.

Mrs. Lyle passed away at the Fond du Lac hospital on April 10, 1910, after which Mr. Lyle’s parents returned to the farm to help care for the motherless children. In October 1915, Mr. Lyle moved his family to a farm which he had purchased near Spencer, Wis. On June 2, 1924, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Stena McPherson, moved to Loyal, Wis., where they of Bentley, Alberta, Canada. (? Meaning of this sentence)

In May, 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle have made their home since that tiome. Mr. Lyle was converted in childhood and joined the Baptist Church at Fox Lake. Later his membership was transferred to the Presbyterian Church at Veefkind, where it still remained.

Mr. Lyle has suffered from Cancer for a long time. Recently the ailment had become severe. For some time it has been realized that he could not long survive. On Saturday, Aug. 4th, he developed pneumonia and lapsed into unconsciousness about noon and at 11:45 P. M. he slipped quietly away.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his three daughters, Mrs. Harold Hillegas of Gresham, Wis., Mrs. Albert Wehling of Loyal, Wis., and Mrs. Ward Hillegas of Gresham, Wis., two grandchildren, Winefred, and Lyle Hillegas; four step-children, Mrs. Alice Redmond and Mrs. Vera Sanbrook of Canada, Mr. Elwin McPherson of Portland, Oregon, and Mr. Douglas McPherson and little daughter, Alice Mae of Marshfield, Wis. He leaves also one sister, Mrs. Algus Gifford of Spencer, Wis., and a brother, George Lyle, of Fox Lake. Besides these, there are many other relatives and friends. All have been sympathetic and kind during his illness and at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held from the home at 8:30 Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. A. N. Chapman of the Methodist Church, and Rev. Dawson of the Presbyterian Church at Veefkind. The body was then taken to Fox Lake where services were held at 2:30 from the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Fox Lake Cemetery.
