Goeltz, John (25 NOV 1829 - 20 OCT 1916)

John Goeltz died at the home of his son, William, in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Friday, Oct. 20th, 1916, aged 87 years, 10 months and 24 days. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.

John Goeltz was born in Germany Nov. 25th, 1829; came to America in 1866, settling on a farm near Picketts, Wis. In 1906 he came to Colby with his son William and family, and has made his home with them up to the time of his death. His wife died in 1904.

During the last three years he had been confined to his bed, his iron constitution bravely resisting the ravages of old age. He was a good, honest man. The stern Reaper found him, "as a shock of corn, fully ripe for the harvest."

His only son William, and two grandchildren, Frank and Margaret of this city, survive him.

The funeral was held from the residence Monday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Goeltz accompanied the remains, the same morning, to Picketts, where they will be laid to rest beside those of his wife.
