Strassburger, John S. (20 May 1922 - 11 July 2006)

CURTISS -- John S. Strassburger, 84, of Curtiss died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Curtiss, Wis. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss, Wis.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

John was born May 20, 1922, in Houghton, Mich., to Wallace and Minne (Pickett) Strassburger. John and Helen Jocuis were married April 20, 1943, in Fresno, Calif. John served his country in WWII with the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. The couple then farmed in the town of Hoard since 1945. While farming, he hauled milk for various dairies. He continued to reside in the town of Hoard after retirement.

John is survived by his wife, Helen Strassburger of Curtiss; his children, Marvin (Karen) Strassburger, Wausau, Jon "Jack" (Ann) Strassburger, Green Bay, Jo (Dennis) Cypher, Medford, and Jill (Jeff) Pinter, Curtiss; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert (Sue) Strassburger, West Virginia; three sisters, Delores (Francis) Weber, Dorchester, Elaine Bockin, Medford, and Marion Bascomb, Hubertus.

John Strassburger, 84, Curtiss, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held July 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss, Wis. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss with full military rites conducted by Colby VFW Post 2227. The Rev. Curt Rohland presided. Pallbearers were Jeremy Strassburger, Joel Strassburger, Justin Pinter, Caleb Strassburger, Jesse Cypher and Jacob Strassburger.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements
