COLBY

Aurelia Blanchard, 96, of Colby died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Msgr. John Malik will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Aurelia was born Sept. 18, 1909, to Frank and Mae (Allain) Van Slett in the town of Corinth. She attended Unity Schools. Aurelia and George Blanchard were married April 7, 1931, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. They moved to Colby and lived there to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. He died in 1992. Aurelia was active in alterations and dress making. She was also active in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society and other groups and Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.

Aurelia is survived by her children, Jean Packard of Oregon, Wis., Jim (Leah) Blanchard of Cedarburg and Charles (Joanie) Blanchard of Roseville, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Allmann of Colby and Bernice "Bunny" Meyer of Colby; and three brothers, Arthur Van Slett of Milwaukee, Russell Van Slett of Milwaukee and Orville (Betty) Van Slett of Moncks Corner, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; two daughters, Ruth in 1985 and Patricia in 1992; a great-grandson, Shawn; four brothers, Elmo, Charles, Francis and Joe Van Slett; and two nephews, Michael and Tommy.
