Luke, Annie (12 Oct. 1864 - 3 Jan. 1938)

Mrs. Annie Luke was born at Brunswick, Germany, on Oct. 12, 1864, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Retus. She passed away Jan. 3, at the Neillsville hospital, where she had been a patient since Dec. 13. At the age of 6 years she came to America with the family. She was here married to Otto Wilson, who passed away 3 months after their marriage. She then worked as a maid, crossing the ocean 6 times on visits to her native land.

Mrs. Wilson was again married, to Alois Luke, in 1906 at Waukesha and three years later came to the town of Lynn, where they settled on a farm.

Deceased was a woman of fine character, she and her husband being of the firm, unyielding, pioneer type, doing their utmost to care for themselves, even in the face of great obstacles at an advanced age.

She leaves to mourn her loss, beside the husband, two brothers and two sisters, Henry Retus, Milwaukee; William Retus, Marshfield; Ella, Milwaukee, and Emma, Kenosha, and a host of friends.

Burial took place Wednesday in the town of Lynn, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
