Raymond John Walgenbach, 94, of 603 W. Fifth St., entered God's home with his family by his side Oct. 1, 2005, when he left his earthly home at Saint Joseph's Palliative Care, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Peter Manickam will officiate and music will be provided by Sacred Heart Church Choir. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and grandchildren will serve as honorary and active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A combined parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ray was born Nov. 24, 1910, in Fond du Lac to Nicholas and Julia (Closey) Walgenbach. He married Lorraine A. Klein on Nov. 25, 1933, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in Fond du Lac on Nov. 25, 2003, with family and friends.

Ray left Fond du Lac in 1940 to begin farming in Colby and surrounding areas. He then moved to Marshfield, where he was employed at Weyerhaeuser Company until his retirement. After retirement he drove the Little Red Wagon and was active in, and a past president of, the Senior Citizen Center, an active member of its choir, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of its choir for over 25 years, the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council No. 1799 of Marshfield and the Catholic Order of Foresters. The community will remember Ray for being a master of ceremonies and for playing Santa Claus.

Raymond is survived by his children, Geraldine (James) Altmann, Janet (John) Weber, Karen (Kenneth) Seehafer and Raymond G. (Ann) Walgenbach, all of Marshfield, Daniel (Linda) Walgenbach of Fond du Lac, Suzanne (William) Rudoll of Greenwood, Patricia (Gary) Szmanda of South Bend, Ind., and James (Natnaree) Walgenbach of Thailand. He is further survived by 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, including a set of quadruplets who were born July 1, 2005.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Lorraine, on June 30, 2004, a daughter, Sandra Kay in infancy, two sisters, Margaret Glineke and Bernice Rowe and a great grandson, Timothy Altmann.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Sacred Heart Parish or to Saint Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield.
