Byler, David J. (2 April 1946 - 9 Oct. 2005)

THORP - David J. Byler, 59, of Thorp died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Thorp Mennonite Church.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, all at the church.

Thorp Funeral Home assisted the family.

He was born April 2, 1946, in Apple Creek, Ohio, to Joni and Lydian (Yoder) Byler. He married Barbara Miller on Feb. 19, 1966, in Middlefield, Ohio. They moved to Canada in 1970 and then to Wisconsin in 1988. In 1990, they purchased a farm north of Thorp. David was the presiding bishop of the Thorp Mennonite Church. He worked as a carpenter, building and installing cabinetry.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Byler of Thorp; four sons, Micah (Norene) Byler, Titus (Beverly) Byler, and James (Susan) Byler, all of Thorp, and Anthony (Eunice) Byler, Withee; three daughters, Rosanna (Ethan) Martin, Texas, Regina (Evan) Miller of the Phillippines and Ruth Anne Byler, Thorp; 25 grandchildren; his mother, Lydian Byler of Michigan; four brothers, Emanuel (Miriam) Byler of Michigan, Daniel (Ruth) Byler of Michigan, Joseph Byler of Washington and Jonathon (Valora) Byler of Michigan; and four sisters, Barbara Byler, Miriam (Joe) Yoder and Sylvia (Galen) Yoder, all of Michigan, and Irene (John) Trinier of Canada.
