Walk, Evelyn A. (March 31, 1911 - November 18, 2001)

Evelyn A. Walk, age 90, of Neillsville, died November 18, 2001 at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Evelyn was born March 31, 1911 at Fort Atkinson to Otto and Anna (Kvitten) Wetzel. At an early age, they moved to Neillsville, Wis. She attended the Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1928. She took the Teacher’s Training Course as well as classes at Stevens Point Normal. She taught in rural schools for ten years. In 1940, she worked for PCA for two years.

In 1942, she lived with her husband on an Army Post in Savannah, Ill. Her husband was stationed in the military police department and she worked in administration. After the war, they returned to Neillsville, Wis. In 1951, she accepted a job as Deputy Register of Deeds. She retired in 1980.

Evelyn loved to travel, read and play cards. She was involved with lots of activities in her church as well as the community.

She is survived by a daughter, Kay (Bernard) Poeschel; son, John Walk (Pat Fredrickson); four grand-children, Julie and Brandon Poeschel, Brian (Heather) Walk and Greg (Sara) Adams; one great grandchild, Chloe Adams; and two sisters, Marian Holton of Arlington, VT, and Ruth Godwin of Milwaukee.

Evelyn was preceded in death, by her husband, parents, two brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be held Wednesday, November 21, at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Kenneth Mohr, Clarence Meier, Rex Roehl, Lefty Henchen, Joe Urban, Edgar Tews, Tim Tresemer and Milton Schoenfeld.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Evelyn’s family with arrangements.
