Nikodim, Joseph (14 Feb. 1830 - 6 Nov. 1904)

On Sunday morning Nov 6th 1904 death claimed one of the old residents of the town of Eau Pleine, Mr. Joseph Nikodim, the cause of death being a complication of deseases (diseases) incident to old age.

Joseph Nikodim was born in Germany, Feb. 14, 1830. He removed to this county with his family 23 years ago. He resided in the village of Unity a short time then removed to the town of Eau Pleine where he made his home for 18 years. 4 years ago becoming too old and feeble to do the work on the farm, he sold the homestead and with his wife moved to Colby where he resided until about a year ago when his wife died, since then he has made his home with his daughters in the town of Eau Pleine and the village of Unity.

He was a man of few words but with a warm heart, a good neighbor and his word was as good as a bond.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Wesley and Mrs. Wm. Spencer of Eau Pleine; and Mrs. Fred Wescott of this village (Unity)at the time of his death he was making his home with the latter.

The funeral was held Wednesday from the Catholic Church at Colby and the remains interred in the Colby Cemetery.

A large numbers of neighbors and friends accompanied the remains to their last resting place.

Researcher’s Note - Joseph Nikodim is buried at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Colby, Clark Co., WI.
