Story, Lillian (November 12, 1913 - May 31, 2006)

Lillian Story, age 92, longtime Hannibal-Gilman area resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Memorial Health Care Center in Medford, WI.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home in Gilman, WI with interment in the Eastside Cemetery in Stanley, WI. Friends and family called on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Gilman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Monday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the Rib Lake Hope Hospice, P.O. Box 237, Rib Lake, WI 54470 or the Medford Nursing Home, 135 South Gibson St. Medford, WI 54451. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Lillian was born November 12, 1913 in the Town of Thorp, WI the daughter of Alma and Amanda (Gereau) Wry. She grew up in the Eidsvold area and attended area schools. She was then united in marriage to Leo John Story on September 8, 1937 at the Hannibal Mance, Hannibal, WI. The couple lived and farmed in the Hannibal-Gilman area for many years. In March of 2006 Lillian entered the Memorial Nursing Home & Rehabilitation under Hospice Care.

Lillian is survived by four sons: Darrell Story of Hannibal, WI; Milton (Pete) Story of Antigo, WI; Duane (Dells) Story of Jump River, WI; and Dorvin (Marilyn) Story of Sheldon; nine daughters: Ellen Hoeck of Hartford, WI; Carol Story of Lynnwood, WA; Addie Mae "Masey" (Dean) Thorkelson of Alderwood Manor, WA; Marie Story of Post Falls, ID; Hazel (Tom) Nelson of Medford, WI; Gladys (John) Wiacek of Sheldon, WI; Debbie (Bruce) Kujawa of Muskego, WI; Jeane Story of Altoona, WI; and Peggy (Chuck) Warner of Medford, WI; 35 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Vivian Wry of Wauwatosa, WI; and one brother-in-law, Ernie Raether of Menomonie Falls, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo in 1957, one daughter-in-law Hazel Story; one grandson Michael John Story; four brothers: Arthur, Cecil, Donald and Raymond; three half brothers: Glenn, Earl and John Wry; and one half sister Myrtle Flora.

Besides Lillian’s great love for her family she enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and especially vising and sharing memories of days gone by.
