Neverman, Mary Eveline (Marriage - 10 Sept. 1938)

The home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Neverman of 307 South Hewett Street was the scene of a pretty early autumn wedding at three o’clock Saturday afternoon, September 10, when their daughter, Mary Eveline, became the bride of Wilfred H. Lauer, Jr., of Winona, Minnesota.

Marching into the spacious living room to the soft strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding march played by Mrs. Allen Covell, the bride, accompanied by her father and attendants, met the groom and the best man before an improvised altar of autumn flowers and candelabra, where Rev. G. W. Longenecker performed the double-ring ceremony.

The bride wore a lovely gown of white silk net (fashioned in Colonial style) over a white taffeta slip, with slight rain and short puff sleeves. Tiny ruffling finished the bottom of the skirt, the same trim being used around the short veil and carried a beautiful arm bouquet of asters and red roses.

Mrs. Harold Ogrosky of Winona acted as matron of honor, Miss Jane Huntley, a cousin of the bride was bridesmaid and Mr. Ogrosky wore gold taffeta while Miss Huntley wore a gown of similar material in blue. Both gowns had full skirts and short purple asters and Miss Jane’s bouquet was made up of yellow daises.

The bride’s mother wore Alice blue velvet, a white gardenia knot and matching accessories. Mrs. Lauer, the groom’s mother, was dressed in wine colored velvet with white accessories, and wore a white gardenia knot.

Mrs. Lauer was born in Neillsville and grew to womanhood here. She was graduated from Neillsville high school in 1931 and later completed the course in the Winona business school and has since been employed as a stenographer. She has been employed by the board of Municipal Works at Winona. She is a young woman of rare intelligence and refinement and posses the ideals that fit her well for the duties of a home. Her future happiness and success are matters of deep interest to Neillsville, Wis.

Mr. Lauer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lauer of Minneapolis. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He majored in forestry and is employed in the Soil Conservation service at Winona, where the couple will be at home at 1064 West Mark Street.

Following the ceremony, a reception and buffet luncheon were given by the bride’s parents to about 50 guests. The table was beautifully decorated with a centerpiece of autumn flowers and white candles in green holders.

The best wishes and hearty congratulations of Mrs. Lauer’s Neillsville friends go with the couple to their new home.

The out-of-town guests include Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tourville, Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Ogrosky, Winona, Minnesota; Mrs. C. Cunning and daughter, Joyce; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lauer, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Woodbury all of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Violet Beggs Milwaukee.
