Sapa, Walter (27 JUN 1905 - 27 NOV 1931)

Walter Sapa, aged 27 years and 5 months, met instant death about seven o’clock on Friday evening last when the car he was driving on Highway 29 west of Boyd turned over several times when he failed to make a curve and landed in the ditch. He was accompanied by Miss Helen Putowski of Stanley, and they were on their way to Eau Claire to attend a show. Miss Putowski suffered bruises and was taken to the hospital at Stanley for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones of Eau Claire witnessed the fatal accident and reported the same to Coroner Henry Larson who found it unnecessary to hold an inquest. Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sapa of Thorp, who together with two sons, Charles of Milwaukee, John of Minneapolis, and two sisters, Mrs. Jos. Rogus of Thorp and one other sister. Deceased was born in Thorp on June 27, 1905.

The funeral took place on Tuesday morning from St. Hedwig’s Church, Father F. A. Kulig officiating.
