Schlinsog, Loraine Margaret (April 21, 1921 - August 23, 2006)

Loraine Schlinsog, age 85, of Granton, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Loraine Margaret Schlinsog was born on April 16, 1921 in Luseland, Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter of Henry and Esther (Moenicke) Lucht. She attended school in Luseland and then moved to Wisconsin at the age of 14. She worked as a housekeeper in the Neillsville/Granton area for various families, including the Thiede’s and Dr. Wrath at the Granton Clinic. While chaperoning her sister on a date, she met Emil Schlinsog. They were united in marriage on June 1, 1940. They farmed in the Town of Grant until 1975 when they retired and moved to Granton. Loraine became a United States Citizen on December 13, 1974. Along with farming and raising her family, she also worked seasonally at Figi’s Inc. On December 7, 1990 Emil died. She married Hubert Dudie on August 2, 1992. Hubert died on November 1, 1996.

Loraine was a member of the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church and the WELCA in Granton. She was a life-time member of the South Grant Sewing Club and a member of the Forum 55 Club, which is associated with St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a member of the Granton Senior Citizens, the Chili Senior Citizens and the Marshfield Senior Citizens. She was past Madam President of the Marshfield Eagles #624 Ladies Auxiliary and she was a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

She is survived by three children, Marvin Schlinsog, of Marshfield; Margaret "Peggy" Blaskowski, of Neillsville; and Marjorie (Gary) Dahl, of Granton; three step-children, Susan (Tom) Nelson, of Canaan, Maine; Robert (Nancy) Dudie, of Appleton; and Nancy (Jim) Thibodeau, of Fort Kent, Maine; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Sandy) Schlinsog, Jay (Ann) Schlinsog, Jim (Michelle) Schlinsog, Janelle (Don) Diener, Tracey (Duane Northup) O’Connell, Shana (Rick) Tischaefer, Lori Dahl, Bryan Dahl; five step-grandchildren, Nicki (Travis) Mills, Kristin Dudie, Paul Thibodeau, Renee Thibodeau, and Gretchen Nelson; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way, Hailey, Jake, Jordan, Wendy, Heidi, Courtney, Drew, Brynn, Evan, Matthew, and DeRick.

Loraine is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Marilyn (Lloyd) Londerville, of Rhinelander; and brothers-in-law, Victor Braatz, of Weyerhauser, and Andy Borg, of Ogma, WI along with many nieces and nephews, and special friend Donald Gardner, of Nasonville.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emil Schlinsog and Hubert Dudie; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Braatz and Mrs. Gladys Borg and two brothers, H. Walter Lucht and James Lucht.

Funeral services for Loraine were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 26, at the Zion American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated. Music was provided by Susan Lueneburg, organist. Interment was in the Zion American Church Cemetery.

Casket bearers were: Jeff, Jay, and Jim Schlinsog, DeRick O’Connell, Bryan Dahl, Don Diener, Duane Northup and Rick Tischaefer.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Loraine’s family with funeral arrangements.
