Obituary for Marie Sorenson

Mrs. Marie Sorenson was born in Denmark, and came to America in April, 1892, and died suddenly at the home of her son John, in the village of Unity, Monday evening, May 25, aged 62 years.

Mrs. Sorenson was born Marie Elizabeth Iversen, in far away Denmark and came to this contry when a girl of eighteen years, landed in Yew York and came directly to Unity where she was employed. Here she met Andrew Sorenson, then working on the Central as a section man. In August, 1892, they were united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Falck. A short time after they were transferred to Spencer where they resided for some 28 Years. Years ago they purchased farm land sough of Spencer and coverted the same into a fine dairy farm. Here their family was born and reared and her husband died. Some twelve year ago she moved to Unity and since that time has made her home with son John and family. Such is the history of the life of a home maker, whose greatest ambition in life was to care for the home and family, loved and revered by all who knew her; a devoted christian, she lived herlife doing those little deeds of kindness that endeared her to the community in which she lived. On the evening of her demise she was sitting on the porch drinking in the beauties of the moonlight when death came out of the night and her soul passed on to her maker.

She leave to mourn her demise six achildren, Mrs. Mat Britten, of Marshfield, John of Unity; Albert of Loyal, Mrs. Edwin Haslow of Loyal: Mrs. Arthur Lucht of Spencer and Arthur of Unity; one daughter, Alice having died in infancy, three sisters Anna, Christina, and Martina in Denmark, and two sisters, Kate Sorenson and Hanna Matthes of Woodridge, Conn., and one half brother, Hans Iversen of Hamden, Conn.

The funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity of which she was a member, last Friday Afternoon, Rev. J. A. Olson Officiating. Interment at the Sencer cemetery.
