Downing, John G. (APR 1887 - 20 MAY 1933)
News of the death of John G. Downing, which took place at his home at Cadott, Wis. Saturday evening was received here early Sunday morning, by relatives and friends. Mr. Downing had been ill about a week and on Wednesday preceding his death was confined to his bed. His death was attributed to nervous troubles. He was 56 years and 11 months of age.
Mr. Downing came to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) about 32 years ago, and was in the employ of the John S. Owen Lumber Company the entire time he made Owen his residence. Two years ago he and his wife moved to Cadott, where they have since resided.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the home at Cadott. Rev. J.I. Sainty, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating, and burial took place in the Cadott Cemetery. Fourteen members of the Owen Lodge of Knights of Pythias attended the funeral in a body, and had charge of the services at the grave.
In his passing Mr. Downing leaves to mourn, his wife, one son, Clifford of Owen, and one daughter, Eva, Mrs. John Anderson of Duluth, besides two brothers, Clarence of Cadott, and Ord of Minneapolis, and one sister, Miss Eva Downing of Minneapolis, all of whom were present at the funeral.
