Wing, Martin Luther (29 Oct. 1857 - 25 Jan. 1939)

Martin Luther Wing, 81, of 122 West 10th Street, passed away at the Neillsville hospital January 25, 1939, after two months illness with hardening of the arteries and complications.

He was born at Friendship, Adams County, Wisconsin, October 29, 1857, to Andrew and Almeda Wing.

Mr. Wing came to Clark County in the fall of 1879. On December 5, 1880 he married Miss Nellie Scott and settled on a farm in the town of Weston where their eldest son, Alonzo Josephus, was born.

In October 1883 the family moved to the Cataract, Monroe County, Wis., where they purchased a small farm three miles from the village. During the seventeen years they lived near Cataract three children were born, Lyman Andrew, Nettie (deceased) and Rose Nellie.

In June 1900 Mr. Wing and family moved back to Clark county, residing in the city of Neillsville ever since.

Early in life Mr. Wing learned the mason trade which he carried on until about sixteen years ago. When a young man he united with the First Day Adventist church. He was a member of the Beaver Fraternal Order and a member of the Odd Fellow lodge for about thirty-six years.

Martin Wing was a kind and loving husband and father, a friendly neighbor and an honest and upright citizen.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three children, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Page, Endeavor, Wis.; Mrs. Ida Wedding, Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. George Amidon, Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral services will be held at Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home, Rev. G. W. Longenecker performing the rites. The remains will be laid to rest in the family lot at Cataract, Wisconsin.
