Eddy, Edgar Herbert (March 9, 1920 - September 5, 2006)

Edgar Eddy, age 86, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center of Neillsville, Wis.

Edgar Herbert Eddy was born on March 9, 1920 in Cataract, WI, the son of Roy and Lula (Sage) Eddy. He attended school in Cataract, and after finishing school, worked on the family farm. Edgar was united in marriage to Margaret Clark on August 20, 1940 in Waukon, IA. They started their married life living near Sparta, and Edgar worked at Camp McCoy and farmed. They moved to Neillsville in 1954 and Edgar went to work as a road construction worker. After retiring, he then went to work for the Marshfield and Neillsville Schools for a total of 17 years. And, after retiring from the schools he worked as the maintenance man for Hardees in Neillsville for 11 years.

Edgar enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities, playing cards and especially spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Gordon (Donna) Eddy, of Silver Lake, WI; Harold "Hap" (Cheryl) Eddy, of Neillsville; Dennis (Donna) Eddy, of Neillsville; Edgar "Bud" (LuAnne) Eddy Jr., of Burlington, WI; daughters Diana (Glen) Dyer, of Sarona, WI; Shirley (John) Langreck, of Neillsville; and Kim (David) Wagner, of Neillsville, Wis. Edgar is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack (Betty) Eddy, of Beloit; Gerald Eddy, of Black River Falls; and Roy (Genny) Eddy, of Merrillan; one sister, Evelyn Heuer, of Cataract; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Eddy, Sr.; his parents; four sisters, Nancy Eddy, Erma Eddy, Sylvia McMahan and Fern Ward; two brothers, Harold Eddy and Kenny Eddy.

Funeral Services for Edgar were held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Mohr officiated. Music was provided by Deon Spangler, organist, and Jay Eddy, soloist. Interment was in the Dells Dam Cemetery, Neillsville, Wis.

Casket Bearers were his grandsons, Dan Eddy, Gary Eddy, David Eddy Jr., Randy Dyer, Jim Eddy, Dave Wagner Jr., Kevin Langreck, Todd Eddy and Greg Eddy.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Edgar’s family with funeral arrangements.
