Rogus, Anton "Tony" John (January 21, 1931 - March 25, 2003)

Anton "Tony" J. Rogus, age 72, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health & Rehab on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at 7:50 a.m.

There will be no services held.

Anton John Rogus was born on January 21, 1931, in Thorp, the son of Joseph and Josephine (Sapa) Rogus. He was raised on the farm and received his education at Oakdale School in the Town of Reseburg. In September of 1954, Tony was united in marriage to Frances Kmieciak at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. They later divorced. He worked for Joe Lato for several years and farmed the family farm until 1981. After leaving the farm, Tony worked as farmhand for Johnny Trybula and also sold seed corn. He retired in the late 1980’s. Tony moved to Gilman and resided there until entering Oakbrook Nursing & Rehab in November of 2002. He was a member of St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Gilman, a former member of St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp and enjoyed playing cards and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his four children: Robert (Tami) of Thorp, Ronald (Linda) Neillsville, Evelyn (Jamie) Furrer of Wausau and Richard of Thorp; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and three sisters: Kathern Lato of Thorp, Frances Karmowski and Sophie Letvinuck both of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Stanley; one sister Angeline and a daughter-in-law Connie Rogus.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
