Frenette, Bernard "Bunny" R. (January 9, 1919 - August 10, 2002)

Bernard "Bunny" R. Frenette, age 83, of Thorp, died on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at his residence.

Bernard R. Frenette was born on January 9, 1919 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin the son of Joseph and Christine (Felix) Frenette. He attended school in the Chippewa Falls area and graduated from Notre Dame High School. On August 7, 1941, Bunny and Eileen M. Bogumill were united in marriage. Bunny enlisted and served his country in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1945 and was stationed in the Caribbean.

Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to work with Eileen’s father and became an accountant/real estate agent. He also worked as a foreman at the cannery in Owen and then became a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He delivered mail to Route 3 for 30 years before retiring in 1982.

His hobbies included bowling, golfing, pool, hunting and fishing. He greatly enjoyed horses and the horse tracks. He was a past member of the Clark County Male Chorus and a current member of the Thorp American Legion and their color guard and St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society.

Bunny will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Eileen Frenette of Thorp; his children: Joan (Richard) Hornell of Corvallis, Montana, Richard L. (Jeanne) Frenette of Thorp, William (France) Frenette of Greenwood and Jeffrey (Sara) Frenette of Rib Mountain; grandchildren: Holly Frenette of California, Amy (Sam) Song of Springfield, Missouri, Gina Frenette of Rib Mountain and Joseph and John Frenette of Greenwood. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Noella Frenette of Chippewa Falls, WI and brother-in-law, John Larkowski of Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Father John Puerner will officiate and inurnment will follow in St. Barnard’s Cemetery, Thorp with full military rites.

Bunny’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Kidney or Diabetes Foundation are appreciated.

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
