Bowe, Bruce (7 SEP 1952 - 6 SEP 2006)

Bruce "Neil" Bowe, 53, Waunakee, passed away unexpectedly at UW-Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, due to complications following his long awaited kidney transplant. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Waunakee. Monsignor James Gunn officiated. Military rites were held by the Waunakee American Legion Post 360. A memorial service and burial will be held in Loyal on Saturday, Sept. 16, ay 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal.

Bruce Bowe was born on Sept. 7, 1952, in Waterville, Wash., to Ben and Mildred (nee Jagim) Bowe. He served in the Army from 1973 to 1978 and was stationed in Maraflores Locks, Panama. He married Jackie Jo Taylor on Nov. 6, 1976, and they had been married for 29 years. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his many trips to the Flambeau River with the guys and spending time at the family cabin up north. He also enjoyed working in his yard and flower garden. He was committed to helping his sons pursue their passion in the martial arts. He dedicated unending hours and relentless energy to both Nick, in his achievement of his third degree black belt, as well as Andy’s second degree black belt. He was very proud of his sons and never hesitated in letting people know of their accomplishments. He will always be remembered for his random acts of kindness and his story-telling ability, making people laugh and bringing smiles to their faces.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Jo; two sons, Nick and Andy; four brothers, Larry (Cindy) Bowe, Spencer, John (Sandy) Bowe, Spencer, Raymond Bowe, Unity, and Leroy (Terry) Bowe, Loyal; two sisters-in-law, Vickie Taylor and Barb Bowe; Two brothers-in-law, Kevin Taylor and Jason Taylor; a stepfather-in-law, John Wagner, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ben and Mildred Bowe; his brother, Don Bowe; his mother-in-law, Ellen Wagner; and his father-in-law, Jack Taylor.

The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Mary’s Hospital Renal Center for the wonderful care given to him during his dialysis treatments. They also would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sollinger and his staff for everything they did to try to save him. The family also wishes to express love and gratitude their hero, his brother, Raymond, who donated a kidney to save his brother.

Winn Funeral Home, Waunakee, is assisting the family with arrangements.
