Krause, William Eugene (May 6, 1920 - May 7, 2004)

William E. Krause, age 84, of Thorp passed away Friday, May 7, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp with Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Military graveside rites were conducted by Thorp American Legion Post 118. Visitation was two hours prior to services at the church.

William Eugene Krause was born on May 6, 1920 in Thorp, WI to William H. and Martha (Schultz) Krause. He attended area schools and graduated from Thorp High School in 1938. He later attended UW-River Falls.

After receiving his schooling, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He was united in marriage to Adeline Olson in 1943. After the service, he returned to the Thorp and Owen-Withee areas where he farmed and worked as an auctioneer. After his wife’s death in 1963, he married Ann Larson and moved to Edgerton, WI where he went to work for Rock County until retiring in 1982. He later divorced and moved back to Thorp to take care of his mother.

Bill had many hobbies which included: hunting, fishing, antique collecting, gun collecting, Indian artifact collecting, wood carving, making knives and making wine. He was a member of the Black River Bowman’s Club and Thorp American Legion Post 118.

He is survived by three children: William A (Anieda) Krause of Wisconsin Rapids; Jamison (Karen) Krause of Milton and Kirsten Bakken of Janesville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three step-children: Mike Sayah of Minneapolis, MN; Becky (Dave) Weitzel of Indiana and Dan Krause of Milton. He is also survived by his special friend Maryon Range of Edgerton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Adeline.
