Janicki, Caroline (July 4, 1918 - November 14, 2004)

Caroline Janicki, age 86, of Thorp, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 18, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp with burial in St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Cemetery, rural Stanley. Family members served as pallbearers. The visitation w shed on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, from 4-8 p.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary service.

Caroline Bamburak was born on July 4, 1918, in Thorp, WI, to Izadore and Catherine (Sikora) Bamburak and received her education at area schools. She was united in marriage to Edward Janicki on October 21, 1939 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Together, they farmed for many years in the Town of Thorp and raised their family. Edward passed away on August 2, 1995. Caroline continued to live on the family farm until 1998 when she moved to the City of Thorp.

Caroline enjoyed walking, polka music, church activities, and Thorp Cardinal sporting events, but especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of the Thorp Historical Society, St. Mary’s of Czestochowa parish in rural Stanley and St. Bernard-St.Hedwig’s parish in Thorp.

She is survived by her four children: Cheryl (Richard) Broda of Thorp, Ron (Beverly) Janicki of Gilman, Karen (Randy) Zelin of Wisconsin Rapids, and Bill (Mary) Janicki of El Dorado Hills, CA; eleven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and god children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; one daughter, Carol Ann; two brothers; John and Joseph Bamburak; two sisters: Helen Waninski and Julia Bamburak; and one step-sister, Ann Herbert.
