Havlicek, Gloria Mae (May 2, 1933 - October 13, 2006)

Gloria Havlicek, age 73, of Neillsville, died Friday, October 13, 2006 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, Wis.

Gloria Mae Havlicek was born on May 2, 1933 in Neillsville, the daughter of Harold and Ruby (Shumway) Hohenstein. She worked for 26 years as a school bus driver for the school district of Neillsville, Wis. She loved the kids she transported, especially the kindergartners, and she was always pleased when people would come up to her and say "I remember you, you were my bus driver." In addition to driving school bus Gloria also worked as a veal farmer, a cook, a census taker, an Avon Lady, she sold atlases and she worked as a dairy and beef farmer.

During her spare time she enjoyed the outdoors and taking long walks with her dogs. She enjoyed cake-decorating, sewing, crocheting and painting. But above all she loved her grandchildren the most and she took immense joy in doing things with them.

She is survived by two children, Diane (Craig) Kronberger and Scott (Vicky) Havlicek, both of Neillsville; four grand-children, Jamie and Ryan Kronberger and Corey and Karlye Havlicek; her mother, Ruby Hohenstein, of Neillsville; one sister, Betty Seversen, of Neillsville; and two brothers, Arthur Hohenstein, of Janesville and Darrell Hohenstein, of Neillsville, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Hohenstein and her step-father, Rex Krejci.

A Memorial service for Gloria was held Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated.
